As a former behavioural therapist for children with autism, the health and well-being of young kids has always been at the forefront of my mind. I became a mom five years ago, and since then, much has changed in the world around us. Smart phones and tablets are everywhere you look. They have become a staple in daily life, both for educational use and for entertainment. Nurturing our sons as they grow up and discover the world is our biggest joy, but it’s also a big responsibility. We brought them into the world and it’s our job to protect them as best we can.
As my son Noah became interested in playing games on our tablet, I started to be increasingly concerned about his exposure to radiation. I did a lot of research and the findings were alarming: numerous health concerns are associated with exposure to non-ionizing radiation. The exposure is most concerning for young children, when DNA replication and cell growth are at their highest rates.
I decided I needed to do something, but I didn’t quite know where to start. Then one night, I was cooking dinner in the kitchen and my son Noah helped me. He was wearing a little cooking apron that he loves and suddenly I had a thought!: What if I could design an apron that would protect from radiation?!
And that’s exactly what I did. My husband and I spent a year doing extensive research and tests as we invented Radi Protection, the apron that helps reduce radiation exposure emitted by electronic devices such as smart phone and tablets. We designed the apron to give us peace of mind, and now we are thrilled to share Radi Protection with you: conscientious parents like ourselves.
